Re: Wheelspats for Bushbaby
How much of a speed difference will the spats make on a 582 BB? I am thinking of all the "mods" to do while she is having the work done, but I also know that I am still a tailwheel pilot in the making, so wont want to break them while still learning.

Maak geen verskil aan spoed met stadige vliegtuig soos Bushbaby.Jayson v Schalkwyk wrote:How much of a speed difference will the spats make on a 582 BB? Groot voordeel is dat dit vlerke beskerm teen klippe of modder. Dit
Belemmer ook die voorvluginspeksie.

Re: Wheelspats for Bushbaby
Thanks Flooi,
Makes sense with the slower speeds of the BB. I didnt even think of the wing protection aspect of the spats.
Although I have very few hours on the plane, the older Bushbay's seem quite "draggy" and with a few small fairings etc can be cleaned up really nicely.

Re: Wheelspats for Bushbaby
Jayson. I now have my 3rd Bushbaby. They are not built for speed. The 912uls Explorer I had a while
Back with a Kiev prop, cruised at about 95mph indicated.
My current Mk1 Explorer has a UL260i engine with a P prop. Cruise indicates about 85mph.
I love the Bushbaby for many reasons. It is a good all rounder. The only way you can get more
Speed from it, would be to add fairings on struts and the spats... which might give you only 3 or 4
Mph more. The big thing is the prop. Adding the correct Whirwind prop could give an extra 10 mph.
But... is it worth the R25000?
Enjoy your Bushbaby

Re: Wheelspats for Bushbaby
I hear you.
The one I have is very serial number, 32, never been finished or flown. She has a 582 on and will have a p prop. Kitplanes is going to do the "582 engine" upgrade and make her look spiffy.
Am excited!!!
