Ordered the QB kit in October 2014 (edited)
It arrived November 2015
Build started February 2016
Engine ordered and arrived in 2017
Avionics ordered and arrived 2018
Estimated maiden somewhere in June 2018

A novice that has never build a RV is estimated to build around 2500 hours plus.
A fairly capable builder around 1800 hours.
Jan has developed some time saving methods for making certain things.
There is also very knowledgeable people around like Chalkie, and they do not mind to share knowledge.
Seems the most important thing is forward planning.

I have learned a lot during this process. I have however realized that I do NOT have the patience it takes to build an aircraft. These builders are truly a special type of individual.

As for Jan, he has made me part of the build from day one and made very sure that I understand every detail about this aircraft. He has pulled me in when he did an annual on RVI and showed me what to look out for. I am very thankful to have met such a meticulous person to guide me in becoming a RV owner.

Jan is not "just" the builder, he becomes a real friend and mentor!!!! =D>

Dankie BasJan :D

Baie dankie.....

TAM interiors op Wonderboom doen die sitplekke, dakbekleedsel en matte vir ons.

  As for the Jabi tour, feathers are the least of our problems. Lots of other things still to happen before we get to feather stage!

I am not in a hurry! :^o

I just like these low profile door handles and the covers on the inside.

Someone once said that a good butcher will not show you how he makes the sausage - only the finished sausage.
I have installed all the LRUs, VPX-Pro and the radio rack. Now down to some serious wiring. It is rather messy at this stage.

For various reasons I have not update here for a long time.

Below a picture of the first switch on of the avionics in May. Always a big moment and no smoke observed :D

Very nice. Looks like you’re planning a trip to the East coast of the USA!
