How do you know of your aircraft is ADS-B enabled. I'm flying a brand new PC12 and for the life of me don't know if it has ADS-B. All indications on planespotters show it has a hex code the works. But nothing shows up on flight radar

Hi Jetblast, I assume you're flying a NG then which is usually equipped with a Mode S transponder. You will most likely be able to see the aircraft in areas where MLAT coverage are provided... I have seen PC12/47 and 47E's on FR24 in MLAT areas but then again there are also other PC12's that are equipped with ADS-B transponders which are visible in normal ADS-B receiver coverage areas. So basically it depends on what your aircraft is fitted with but as I said the NG's mostly have Mode S transponders...

All Mode S transponders have a hex address assigned to them for identification.

If ADS-B equipment were fitted it would be listed on the aircraft equipment list.
Dont think many of any PC-12 have ADS-B yet.
Some of the very new ones are sold with "ADS-B ready" transponders. These have the ports to connect to the optional ADS-B equipment if fitted aboard.

Being mode S your PC-12 may get its position fixed by the new M-LAT capability from Flightradar24 if 4 stations see the aircraft at the same time.
Any receiving station would also get your all your aircraft info from Mode S (Registarion, height, speed ect), but wont know its position

This aircraft is arriving sometime on Friday the 23rd of May at Lanseria and should be departing again around the 24th or 26th for Nairobi. It is going to be back here at FALA around the 28th and leaving again the 29th or 30th.

It is the FAA's Gulfstream that has the interesting registration "N1".

Due to a glitch on Flightradar24 and some not too well tuned transponders we often see aircraft pop up as N1.
So when she pops up for real most will probably just think its a bad transponder again.

Which transponder do you have in your PC12? I have seen the Garmin GTX330 in some. These are mode S, with a software upgrade possible to do mode S with extended squitter. The extended squitter then could broadcast your position which flight radar can pick up. BUT, your transponder then needs wiring from an onboard GPS to provide it with the location information. This would probably not be done already. Doing this on a certified aircraft is not going to be cheap. Plenty of NTCA flying around with mode S transponders with ES showing their location on FR24.

Hi Pieter, I think Jetblast may be flying a PC12NG which has the Honeywell Apex integrated flight deck and that usually has the Honeywell KXP-2290D Mode S transponder fitted. So they usually only show up on FR24 in MLAT coverage areas. Regarding the GTX330, I have flown a PC12 that has a GTN750/650 setup combined with the GTX330 transponder and it displays on FR24 in ADS-B coverage areas...

Thats correct. Honeywell it is. I think the 12 you are talkimg about might be NYM. Seen it on FR24 frequently
