light sports aircraft running cost

Unread post by EtienneFly007 »

Hello

Can I get some information regarding the cost of ownership on one of these light sports aircraft, Bat Hawk, bantam, or similar?
Insurance?
MPI? How regular does the aircraft need to go for MPI?
Is it Yearly?
Or After so many flying hours?

Enjin services?
Same questions?

if I only fly 5 to 10 hrs a year? Does the checks still have to be done annually?

The cost involved in doing those checks...

I have read something about the NPL licence needs to be renewed?
Cost on the NPL renewal every year?

Thank you
Kind regards

Hi Etienne
Go for a Jabiru 2 seater 120ul

We use one in our flight school here in Durbs

MPI every year or 100 hours, never more than R2000. 50 hour service R1500 Even if you only fly 5 hours per year it will still need an MPI

All airies need to fly regularly or you will pick up problems so 5 hours per year not enough

LSA flight test with us would be minimum 2 hours at R1100 per hour dual

PM me if you need more info

Just note that it is an "Annual Inspection" and NOT an "MPI"....the MPI is every 100 hours or 12 month, whichever sooner.....
The "annual inspection" is every 12 months - irrespective of hours flown...

So basically I will need to do both, Mpi and annual inspection?

I will never fly 100 hrs or more in a year, max wil be maybe about 36-50... Fuel cost will keep me grounded as I have a strict budget per month.... But fly I want to, and will !!!

ñ Jabiru is awesome aircrafts, but they are a little to expensive to buy. I am looking at the Bathawk, or similar...

Thank you
