Re: Here we go again - RV10 build
Hi Guys.
Well done on what you have done so far. I am so envious of the two of you. We have just completed an RV7 for a mate of mine and now that it is done and waiting to fly I am ready for the next one but alas my pockets are too small at present. The one we built is for my mate so I will just have to drool till someone else wants one built and I can climb in too. Hope you have many happy hours of building and eventually a great aircraft. All of the best.

Re: Here we go again - RV10 build
After a few long sessions deburring , dimpling and finally priming, we started with the re-assembly.
There you have it, now a few mammoth riveting session as and it will be on to the next steps.
Build on....

Re: Here we go again - RV10 build
So voting over and down to some work today:
I seem to really choose my partners well, note once again who is in the confined spaces.
That is it for now, next time finish off that skin and the parts left are getting to be very few, roll on the arrival of the next kits.
Build on....

You are right Horace, however look closely at the pic of me inside the tailcone, and his lordship on the outside in comfort with the grin.
Unfortunately we will now be stalled for a few months as we await the arrival of the next kits.
Sorry to have missed you at Nylstroom.
Ian and Theo.

Re: Here we go again - RV10 build
Cheers you two - I'll confess to being seriously spoilt with accommodation and family life at a fantastic home at one of the estates near Nylstroom and got to the airfield later than what I should have. So I looked out for you and missed out. Sorry Ian & Theo. I'm up there again on October (Jhb) - perhaps I could visit you guys then? Theo and myself will be talking about MOGAS at the EAA meeting 5 October.

Re: Here we go again - RV10 build
So it has been a while since I posted an update.
Shipping took forever, Vans had an issue with customs in the Philippines which delayed the shipping of our kit to them by some three months. It finally arrived, ordered in March 2016 ready for shipping Feb 2017 and arrived May 2017:
Which had to be unloaded Then unpacked and inventoried Finally moved home to the workshop, checked for work performed by the quickbuild factory, a few minor issues found.
And building got going at pace.
Pretty soon we have this task to perform.
A big job performed in a few minutes.
Oh well, build on.....

Thanks Jan.
Yes, the workshop is now full, you have to walk around the aeroplane to get to the things that are always on the wrong side.

Re: Here we go again - RV10 build
So we have been busy, have not posted any progress for a while.
Made a tool box Fitted baggage bay door Dreamed about some instruments
Fitted rear seats, painted the interior Fitted some brakes and fuel lines Fitted controls Fetched the cabin top from the hanger Which did not fit straight out the box Here is where we are now, painted interior, flaps, controls and brakes installed, started work on cabin top and doors.
After a good session cutting, sanding we have a fit So we build on....

Re: Here we go again - RV10 build
Ah - the dreaded pink cabin top.
Lots of challenges on it like flat spots that needs to be filled and sanded.

Re: Here we go again - RV10 build
So they say the second child is not photographed as much as the first, well that is true of aeroplanes too. Although in our house there are now more photographs of the dog than all of the children combined.
So if our dog is ever lost, we should have no trouble proving ownership.
We have been building, slowly chipping away at the mountain. We are now past 1000 hours and making good progress.
Here are some snaps as to what we have been up to:
Firstly the pink cabin top: Then we went off to Oshkosh, looking at avionics, view from the rear, complete with a significant wiring harness: And from the front:
So we got home and found a few amazing things arrived: Then we got stuck in to the wiring part:
More wiring: Installed an autopilot which needs servos: Sandi (Theos wife) came to inspect:
"Those are servos, and if we are over budget, it is all because of you as we had not planned the yaw damper, so that is installed at enormous expense so you wont get airsick Sandi" Then replaced the wooden panel with an aluminium one.
The inspector and her man:
