Very nice Jean, so what was the performance like with the VW motor and I see it is marked as a Cubby MK II so is this not the "Super Cubby" then?

:D Hi Jv performance pretty much the same as older model in climb and take off, but cruise is somewhat faster due to the enclosed cowl and flatter rake of the front screen. We completed the engine mount for the Rotax 912S today, so now to paint the cradle, tomorrow we hang the Rotax on the firewall.
As we progress more photos will follow.

Seeing as we are busy converting the Cubby to a Rotax engine, I thought it a good time to upgrade the whole tailgroup. :D  Some photos are soon to be added here to show the changes.

New tail feathers, trim tab twice the surface area as the old one, this will make it much more effective. It will hinge on a piano hinge, which also serves as a gapseal.
The elevators have horns for aerodynamic balancing, which makes for lighter stick forces.
The rudder is slightly bigger because of a rounded trailing edge, like the Supercub  The purpose is to morph the Cubby into a nicer, better aircraft, schooled more on the Supercub than the J3 Cub.

Jean. The flatter rake of the windscreen looks so much better.
Have you completed the repairs to Hans's plane? The one you collected from our field.

Vernon

Hi Jean, great work there. As someone else mentioned I also did not have much appreciation for the original Cubby side profile. It was very much out of proportion with that extended nose moment. I believe they flew well regardless. What you have done aesthetically is amazing 10/10 I would be interested to know what the cost of the Cubby V2 airframe kit is.

Thanks

Hi Vernon, no but we have stripped it into a thousand pieces  That Cubby will get all the upgrades as seen on this thread, and is destined for a Revmaster engine 8) and will then be for sale.
