So glad to hear you’re OK Rudi.

Cirrus’ Tod Symmons crashed his Carbon Cub in the back country a couple of years ago. In a follow up video made by the Air Safety Institute his brother, who witnessed the accident, said that he got his PLB from his pants pocket and activated it.

He said “Camping equipment is what’s in the back - survival equipment is what’s on your body”.
My wife keeps saying I don't listen to her or something like that !?

Of course carb icing is the first thing that springs to mind. Is it a possibility?

Do you have two totally separate ignition systems?

Strongs Rudi. This is not a time for making big decisions - it takes a while after an accident for things to come into focus.

Really sorry to hear of the engine problem and the forced landing. A sad end (delay) in a great build story.

I will be keen to know if the engine runs normally when tested. Refer to page 11 of this thread...

AHHHH no Rudi. Sorry to hear man. Most important that you are okay and I'm sure the LIL Fokker will be returned back to pristine health in due course.
Well done on a successful forced landing - Look forward to seeing you in the sky in whatever you're flying.
cheers

Heartbreaking news , glad you walked away ,thanks for the detailed account of events, I will be anxiously waiting for the cause, as I may be running the only other HKS 700E in SA at the moment on my competition Trike with the same intake setup and not one miss in over 250 hrs . At the World champs in the Czech Republic in the first 6 places 5 of us were running HKS 700 E and severally abusing them in every way possible without one of them ever blinking . Marc and Roy even used this engine in there 2 seater and missed the title by a few points against all the 912's.

Ouch Rudi - that's horrible. Just glad you're OK. I hope you and the aircraft will be back in the air soon.

Sad to hear. Had my share of a couple of engine out landings, too (always non Rotax, once even a Lycoming with a landing on a river in a gorge with an amphibian plane ).
When I first saw the pictures of the plane flying (what a beauty), I was very concerned that you did not wear a helmet in that open cockpit.
I did not mentioned it in the forum because I did not want to appear as a "knows it all". Now I regret it, but I am very happy that you got out with minor injuries. Nevertheless, wear a helmet next time.

Ditto, the project has been passed onto someone who has the correct DIY, Building and Flying experience to solve and appreciate the Little Fokker.
Unfortunately I did not spend the time to trouble shoot the issue, but I am sure the new owner will diligently test it.

It was a great experience, but now the Little Fokker belongs to someone else, I wish him all the best!
