Front shock rubber ?

Unread post by pietmeyer »

Guys

I just orderd a new "rubber shock" or whatever it is called for my Jabi as the old one shows signs that it must be replaced. Needles to say it caused a laugh at the office when delivered there as it looks like it was bought from the "Adult toy & Video store"

I used to flyna Raptor trike and the rear shocks were similar to this and we replaced it with coil springs. Never had to repalce it again. I was wondering if anybody thought of this for the Jab and if so anybody have something like that fitted?

Piet don't tamper with proven suspension. Let me tel you why. As you know my name amongst the Jabi owners (some affectionately others not) is "tinker fingers"... . (edited  )

I played around with a coil spring, but soon found out that I could not settle the nose as soft and smooth as the standard setup.

Why?
Spring recoil! So unless you introduce some sort of shock ubsorber you always end up with some sort of recoil after coil compression.

The newer green suspension material gives you the suspension without the recoil. The older red one just as good but unfortunately without the lifespan. Green is good......

I was thinking I might turn out a copy of the shock doughnuts in mahogany, all varnished up it would look cool on the front of my jabi and still provide about the same amount of suspension give

Just wait till you try and compress those green monsters to get them in, its best if your not to attached to having all 10 fingers 8-[ :? #-o

Cheers,

Hi Peter.

Afraid I do not understand your question?? :?
Explain a bit more, or even better post a pic while somebody points at the offending part?
