Jabiru Engine Parts support
We were at the factory yesterday to see our engine run for the first time. Before I could even get into the factory len pulled me aside .....show and tell time. Never seen him so talkative. Happier days ahead.
All this hype about Australia not supporting Gen 3 engine is true. Len has tooled up and is making the parts in house. He will be the only supplier of head, barrels, cranks, casings, cams etc. In fact we have one of the new cams in our engine plus a bunch of mods to the casings to stop hymonics . Looking forward to getting CYR flying again.
Was shown the first batch of barrels completed, very impressive. Was also show the prototype head not quite finished but would say about 95%. All done with better materials.
So think can all relax knowing that we will still have good support for our engines.....Whats next , hope he looks at maybe forged pistons, balanced crank, rods and pistons.....
Anyway the engine didn't run found addition issues with 3 of the heads not sealing on the barrels.....He had the spares....
I have a new engine bar 2 cylinder heads the crank and 4 conrods....and all the changes which Im not sure of yet. Also found that the position of the EGT probes was too close to the exhaust ports should be 100mm , mine was 74 mm makes a big difference to the output/Data....
Well post here with the engine runs etc....
Was nice to see the factory operating with 3 new planes being build or was it 4 and the AMO busting at the seams with general Maintenance.

Very encouraging news indeed. Has Len been in touch with Ian (from Camit)? Ian may be able to add some valuable knowledge

I actually don't think he needs to from what I have seen. Has all the right people doing the right things. Besides do you really think he would do that

Re: Jabiru Engine Parts support
Well our engine is running. From what I can see in the videos and whats been reported 100RPM increase after the re-build and the new modifications, engine runs cooler, engine idle at 300 rpm on a bing carb, vibration almost non existent. Lets wait and see once we have it installed in the aircraft with the injection system. Happy times ahead

Well done to Len and his team once again.

Re: Jabiru Engine Parts support
Me too, Test run of the engine was good but the flight was another story. EGT went cold on cylinder 3. Found no compression on that cylinder. Found evidence that the rocker was touching the rocker cover. Was unable to move the rocker manually so its been assumed that its a over pumped hydraulic lifter. Did blow by on that cylinder , ,,,good air flow out the exhaust....
So yip we are not happy.
Will see when they come and do the repair/ inspection.

Yea
We have had 2 total destructions . Last total rebuild we still have issues after 10 min flight . Will update once I have all the information . Engineering issues not from Jabiru but a reworked cylinder head . Anyway
can only laugh

Head is back on engine is ready to run again . Still not convinced that it's not too tight 11 kg to get it moving 7 kg to keep it moving
