Hi Gary,

I use the UMA fuel sender that is specifically made for the MGL - "MGL FUEL PRESS SENDER 100 PSI, Aircraft Spruce part number 11-08067". My MGL's fuel pressure reads 1.7 bar, but the actual pressure at the same point as the fuel sender is 2.2 bar :( I have checked the MGL settings and they are correct, I have given up fiddling about with the MGL settings and now just live with the low reading [-( .

Cheers, Don.

No 3-5 Bar....43- 75 PSI around there. Static pressure . 1:3 Ration between Static and running .
Duh... Mixed up fuel pressure and oil pressure.
MGL has piezo senders available for both ranges. 0-7psi for fuel, 0-100psi for oil.

Rob, both these guys are running fuel injection so have need for higher pressure sender units on their fuel lines.

VDO rather crappy lately.

Guys,

We have EFI installed , pressures runs static at 3 bar. VDO does not work for me. tried all the settings on the IEFIS but comes nowhere near. Anyway have ordered the UDM unit up to 5 bar. Thanks for the advice.

They certainly have... in Australia at least.

Here's one for example:

https://aviationclassifieds.com.au/listing/5427

I'm aware of two 914 powered J230's, there could be more.

There's 1 x J430 with a Lycoming 0233.

There's a couple of J230's with an 0233 but they may be in the final stages of conversion, I'm yet to see them yet.

There's at least 5 J160/J170's with a 912s fitted and possibly more I don't know of.

All reports with the 100hp give an excellent climb rate, but not really an improved cruise speed, or certainly not a significant increase.

The J430 with 914.... excellent climb, like 1,500+ but not am amazing increase in cruise compared to the 3300 with timber prop, which is somewhat surprising.

Hi J430 good to hear some news from down under. Could it be that the prop is set too fine giving excellent climb but not cruise speed?

You'd think so, but when they fine them up they don't seem to do much better, lower rpm but not much of a cruise speed increase, even with constant speed units. The J160 is the star performer with 100hp for both climb and cruise.
