Fuel Management

Unread post by Shaunus »

Morning all

Recently I realised that my traditional values I used when determining fuel remaining using the inspection windows was different when viewed on ground versus in the air (in straight and level flight, versus parked on level ground). In my last few flights I have amended my figures as follows:

• Full tank = 135L … set EFIS to 135L if tanks totally full when on flat ground - else less
• Fuel when on Ground - 55L remain when both windows at just 100% of window
• Fuel when on Ground - 25L remain when both windows at 50%
• Fuel when on Ground - 15L remain when both windows at 30%
• Fuel when in Air - 70L remain when both windows at 100% of window
• Fuel when in Air - 40L remain when both windows at 50%
• Fuel when in Air - 30L remain when both windows at 30%
• If Fuel light flashes for first time (10L remain), 24 min MAX = 40nm
• If Fuel light comes on steady (6.5L remain), 15 min MAX = 25nm

Sound about right? ... in my J430 it seems that there is a 15L discrepancy with how you view it.

Cheers
Shaun

Hallo Shaun

Ja these Jabies sure have a personality of their own. Best to get to know your plane well. Attached a plague that seems to be a one size fits all with some margin. Stick it next to your glass tube indicator and adapt, if necessary, to reflect your requirement.
