After following this thread carefully- and others along this line- it seems that Jab engines could be reliable if installation is correctly done with emphasis on cooling AND correct maintenance. I owned a sp470 and 2 x j430's and never had a problem. Personally I will stick with Rotax because mogas is easier and cheaper. Rotax also has an excellent history of reliability.

Consider this..... there are few NTCA as well built and beautifuly finished as Jabiru. There are few NTCA that are so easy to fly and land. They say horses for courses....... my dream all purpose NTCA would be a SP470 with a 912ULS coupled to a Whirwind prop and an extensive flight panel. Why? The 470 has a high wing loading to combat turbulence and the extra power will shorten takeoff. AND it should be good for more than 120 knt tas... just thinking :D
