Checking the accuracy VDO oil temperature gauge

Unread post by foxdog »

HI Guys,
I believe that the oil temperature of the Jabiru HP 120 should be between 80 and 110 in order to boil off moisture in the oil.
My engine runs around 65 in the cruise despite taping 80 % of the cooler off.
What simple method is there to check the accuracy of the oil sender and gauge .
I do not have access to an infra red temp gauge.
Could i use an ohmmeter on the sender or put the sender in a cup of hot water ect
Regards,
Foxdog
