The same people are still at the helm as before it went belly up and while that is the case, nothing will change. They are in for a another hiding.

For them (management) the Covid BS came at the perfect time so they used that as the excuse for their mismanagement and shenanigans , the writing was on the wall way before.

Cry my beloved airline.

I hope those loyal supporters to SAA V2 have learned the error of their ways in supporting this careless government who cant even grasp how stupid they are . The are unable to see what damage they have wrought on themselves .

Any CEO with any brains at all would have paid them whatever they wanted and even asked them if they didnt want a little more while they are about it. They could have dealt the dealt with the consequences afterwards but right now this might just finish them off .

I rather hope this is their end . We dont need this morally bankrupt organization poisoning our society any longer .

Flights affected by SAA pilot strike.
Passengers booked on the flight affected by the cancellations will be re-accommodated on
the next available flight operated by SAA. Should this time not suit the passenger, the
agent may select another suitable date in the same cabin class on South African Airways'
Flight routes affected

The strike will affect all SAA-operated flights on major domestic and regional routes, including:

Johannesburg (JNB) to/from Cape Town (CPT)
Johannesburg (JNB) to/from Durban (DUR)
Johannesburg (JNB) to/from Gqeberha (PLZ)
Johannesburg (JNB) to/from Windhoek (WDH)
Johannesburg (JNB) to/from Mauritius (MRU)

Travel Advisory
Advisory Number | 106
Subject: South African Airways Re-Accommodation Policy due to SAA Pilots Association
(SAAPA) Strike

https://www.flysaa.com/documents/518551 ... a14764b7b5

At least for now a full refund is still an option.
3.11. If the customer does not accept any of these options, cancel the itinerary and apply for a
refund as detailed below:
a) If the customer opts not to travel due to this cancellation no longer suiting his/her travel plans – a full refund (including taxes) will be returned to the original form of payment for tickets issued on SAA (083) stock only.
Despite all of the above, there are still SAA aircraft operating between JHB and CPT , ZS-SXJ passed by here just a few minutes ago. Who's flying it? Who knows? And SunExpress is probably taking up pax from cancelled SAA flights.

I can't believe they would strike when the airline if obviously teetering on the edge of a cliff. And of course right at the beginning of the Christmas holidays. Either I am missing part of the puzzle or they are stone mad.

Jim,

I can't believe people actually want to/choose to fly with them, that just boggles the mind.

I quit using them about 22 or so years ago.

Of course there could be advantages. Imagine being stranded in Mauritius for ten days and being forced to accept free accommodation.

Pilot strike suspended

https://www.sabcnews.com/sabcnews/saa-p ... ff-strike/
This comes after reaching a conditional agreement with SAA management this morning.

Pilots will return to work while negotiations for improved working conditions continue between the unions and SAA management...

Management has offered an additional 1% salary increase, resulting in a total salary increase of 9.47% for SAA pilots.

Professor Lamola added, "As part of the agreement that broke the deadlock in wage negotiations, engagements on a continuous enterprise improvement program will continue over the next eight weeks. We are committed to implementing work-life concessions that should enhance the productivity of our world-acclaimed pilots"...

Indeed, in the far distant past that used to be the case but right now I feel I am about to be overcome by a fit of vomiting.

What I find truly amazing is that the pilots shut the Airline down for 1% .
That they would toy with what little reputation the Airline still has beggers belief .
On the other hand their flying public are ignorant beyond words for flying with them in the first place .

Widespread flight delays at OR Tambo airport due to 'refuelling challenges'

Flights at OR Tambo International Airport have been delayed due to refuelling challenges.

Planes are unable to "refuel as normal", Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) said in a statement on Monday.

Passengers at the airport reported that there were long queues. Others had been sitting in aircraft on the airside apron for nearly two hours.

"As a result, some flights might experience delays," the statement read.

"We understand the inconvenience this may cause, and technicians are working to solve the situation as quickly as possible. We will continue to keep passengers informed of any updates.

No information was provided about what had led to the refuelling challenges or how many aircraft have been affected.
