**Warning Job Seekers** Take care of your personal data

Unread post by Roger »

The one thing that is evident in our industry is that like many other, employment is scarce and often difficult to get that foot in the door.

It is encouraging to see that since introducing these job sections, many reputable organisations are now using our platform as their first stop to finding their right candidates.

As job seekers are hungry for work, and beggars can't be choosers, CVs and other personal data are sent in response to these adverts without a second thought. No! Stop! Slow Down.

We believe that there may be scammers posting not only here, but on other platforms too. There are always promises of guaranteed jobs, training or conversion sponsorships and other enticing opportunities offered, all to make it even more exciting than just a normal job posting. "Quick, let me get my info to them before anyone else", may often be the thought going through your mind.

Beware! If the poster encourages you to send your CV and other personal data to a gmail (or any other free mail service), do stop and give it some thought. Would a reputable organisation be using a free mail address service? If the company name is not mentioned in the posting, why not? Granted, there may be some legitimate cases where they may require their identity to be kept 'secret', but please treat with a bucket load of healthy skepticism.

With CVs containing personal information such as contact details, ID and licence numbers, annexures such as copy of your ID and licence documents etc, we believe there is a risk that you may be on the receiving end of identity theft.
