Lots of preparation went into this aircraft. Painting should start in the next week or two.

AOJ was the very first KIS TR-1 in SA
Built by Peter How that was also the KIS agent at the time.
He even took me for a demo flight out of Grand central where it was first based since new.
I used to own a TR-4 and know that these planes are very under rated and great performers and a joy to fly!!

We looked at a couple of options and decided to use blue, silver and white :D . Painting should start next week. Should go quick after that as the engine and instruments are ready to be installed.

Thanks for the info Rockwell. I heard today that Peter first installed a beetle eng in AOJ. Do you know if this is true?

Hi Jaco
Late reply, when I flew with him in AOJ it had the Lycoming in already and don’t know about a Beetle motor.
Those early KIS days guys would know better, guys like Mr. Rebel, Petrie and Joubert and obviously Peter himselfπŸ˜ŽπŸ˜‰

I was told that Peter lives at Gariep Dam. I will make sure to visit him once AOJ is serviceable.

AOJ will get a new 3 blade VP prop. The prop installed at the moment is only temporary.
