It will be very brave to book a ticket with them far in advance. That company is a burning sinking money pit, you could easily never see your money again with no service delivered.

Rather book with a reputable company.

I agree - rather book with one of the other airlines.

finally we will be connected to South America again. https://www.aeroroutes.com/eng/221125-laaug23jnb
Is there enough traffic between South Africa and South America to warrant a direct flight?

Yes definitely...pre-covid there was up to 2 daily flights on JNB-GRU between SAA and LATAM, at some point SAA even operated 10 weekly themselves.

Apparently TAAG is currently taking quite a lot of traffic between JNB/CPT (and MPM) and GRU...and people even travel longer detours (ADD, DXB and even CDG)

Connections to South America was also quite important for other Southern and Eastern Africa transit via JNB...as well as towards Asia...hence they would probably be happy if OneWorld partner Cathay also resume service to JNB

But unlike Europe, America and Australia, there aren't many South Africans living in South America and vice versa. So most of the traffic is probably tourists, and Latam can take advantage of a monopoly route.

Um, have you seen how many South Africans now live in Argentina ? A lot are emigrating there and family are flying back and forth for visits.
Its even on the list of countries where Afrikaans is spoken, and many more Afrikaans families are in the process of moving there.

A large amount of South Africans including Aviation and banking specialists also work in Colombia.
And many South African engineers work in Brazil for multi national compannies.

Also Sandton has a huge Latin American immigrant community. Mostly from Venezuela and Colombia
They travel often back to family.

Agreed not as large as England for South Africans, but still a lot

Well Aerolineas has a very small long haul network. The best we can hope for is the LATAM flights become daily.

Probably no demand, KZN isn't a tourist destination anymore...
