Drone for commercial use - what do I need?

Unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), commonly known as a drone and also referred to as an unpiloted aerial vehicle and a remotely piloted aircraft (RPA) by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), is an aircraft without a human pilot aboard.

Drone for commercial use - what do I need?

Unread post by ricky14 »

Good day all

I am originally a rc heli pilot. But I recently thought of transitioning to drones this year. I just bough a DJI drone and, as this is my first drone, I am unsure about the regulations regarding commercial use. I would like to get into aerial photography, just posting my videos to YouTube without monetization. Are there any regulations that stop me from doing this? I just don't want to face jail time for simply flying my drone around. I am familiar with the general regulations that needs to be followed by every drone operator, but don't know if I can film on our farm for example, and post those videos on YouTube. Will this get me in trouble without having a RPL? The drone is sub-250g
