Did you know?

The Turkish Kangal Shepherd dog is the dog with the strongest bite in the world. More than double that of the Pitbull! The dog is used to protect against bears, wolves, and jackals. Stands up to 40 inches high and can live to 13 years. Old for a dog of this size!

Did you know..
Roland Garros is outside of Paris, which is nowhere near Loire (the home of Sauvignon blanc).
The tournament was played on clay at Ligue Centre-Val de Loire de Tennis a mere 2 and a 1/2 hours away.

Thanks. Interesting what wine can teach one about the world

I got my info from a printed newspaper. Not very clear but she won the championship in Loire and apparently also played a game at Roland Garros and won it? Still a great achievement and exposure for the 14yo tennis champ! :D Im sure we will read more about her in the future!

Did you know...

The majestic Lipizzaner horse breed was established in what we now know as Slovenia in 1563. It was initially bred as a courageous warhorse. All foals are born black or dark in color and only become lighter from 4-8 years. There is an established Lipizzaner stud in Paarl(They move from Midrand). Do yourself a favor and book a ticket to one of their show.

Not sure about this point anymore but initially the Lipizzaners were only ridden by women in South Africa. In the rest of the world only men. Why i don't know.

Strong, intelligent, and courageous horses...( all photos of the SA stud)

Agree, isn't it just awesome when the younger guys do their thing and are passionate about it! Whatever it is, tennis champ, pilot, farmer, account, construction worker, etc, etc.... :D

It is unfortunate that to get ahead they have to leave SA.
At least the US values their talent and can provide sport scholarships and access to training and facilities we don’t have here in SA.
Our government loves to celebrate when our people succeed but will only put obstacles in the path of youngsters.

Jahnie the little tennis champ is currently under the wing of a local/private coach. But you're right she will get nowhere in SA. I think that is the plan to accept a scholarship at a US tennis University. But only after finishing school here...

Jahnie was not the only South African shining here in France last week. Ashley Moolman Pasio (37yr old) perform very well in the Tour de France Femme which ends yesterday in Pau. She was sixth overall after being second on Friday. The stage on Saturday was really bad and even the yellow jersey struggled. She is aiming for Paris 2024. All of the best to her and well done!!
