More than 50% of 2024 Dakar rally cars were built in South Africa. Wow, how cool is that!!
50+% of all (presumably four-wheeled; not truck) vehicles, across all classes? If so then that is remarkable. Source?
Lupedelupe, good point! Ive read it somewhere in a recent online SA car magazine. Can't find it now. The local guy whose car that is also confirmed that. I think the trucks are the Russians' and Ukrainian's specialty. SA also built many T3/T4 cars...(dune buggy type)

Love watching the Dakar cars/bikes!

Edit: Here you go....''Of the 72 cars entered in Dakar 2024, thirty eight of them, 23 Toyota Hiluxes, 12 Centurys, three Red-Lined, and two Ford Rangers, were built in South Africa. That’s more than half the field! Twelve South Africans will also either drive or navigate''

Interesting that they prefer the Toyota V8 engine (non turbo) for their builds!

Terrible that in this day and age of information and education, we still see human superstition, ignorance, vanity and pure arrogance and greed, that totally disregards nature and conservation ethics.

Things like this always reminds me of the classic piece of Inge Prins ''Die drie kaalkoppe eet tesame"

Disgusting short video but worth the watch!

Did you know?

There are no more wild populations of Vervet monkeys in nature/wild. All live nearby humans and also rely on their leftovers for survival. The monkeys feast on anything and they love Banana Mageu.(see pics)

Did you know?...

Engela Potgieter has the most interesting job/business! :D :smt023 :smt023 :smt023 https://www.facebook.com/engela.potgieter.5

From her FB page:
''My name is Engela and I am a barefoot hoof care provider / equine barefoot specialist / barefoot hoof trimmer. I have been trimming for almost 11 years.
My story is that I went to study Psychology at the University of Stellenbosch, but ended up answering the call of the horses!

Through the years I have studied and practised various barefoot trimming methods (there seem to be thousands of methods) and have worked with many hoof care professionals in order to keep learning.''
