Closure of an airfield (Aviators Paradise)

Unread post by Sands »

This is to notify our flying community that Aviators Paradise has been sold to a mining company. There is no longer a runway available for an aircraft. It is now a chrome dumping way. We are busy relocating to Bokfontein Airfield. Aircraft that are still in the hangers have to be removed by road. Gone is an era.

Sad news indeed.

Wil Bokfontein be open for visitors?
And can they accomodate most general aviation aircraft?

I feel sorry for those with planes still in the Hangars.

Making way for a dumping site?

Were there many aircraft still there? Trying to understand the timing. Would there not have been a notice period before closing the runway>

I understand from a friend who had his plane there - they had 30 day's notice to move their planes. Couldn't find hangars in the area to rent, so had to stump up the cash to buy one. It hurt.
