From the photos I have seen I highly doubt it is a bullet. Something else did that. Would love to know what....

What would you suggest Rotor Kop? RPG7, Rifle grenade? 20mm Cannon Shell?

Agree with Rotor Kop, a RPG would have taken the tail clean off. Rifle grenade would have plonked way short. 20 mm would have either gone through or taken the tail off. I also would love to know what...

You can't determine what was fired at the plane looking at the exit holes. The entrance holes would be a lot more interesting to see. We may have to wait a bit to see those photos.

I'm no expert at all but that sure looks like a bullet entry hole to me.

Slug round from a shotgun just about fits that sized hole.

From photo's one can see what ever entered probably hit shaft and split into fragments. some of fragments did not make it out, so should be easy to figure out what it was.

That occured to me too. But the problem being that the round fragmented? A shotgun slug at any sort of range doesn't have the energy (velocity) to do this. At least not any of the shotguns I've used. The fragmentation suggests a fairly high velocity projectile. But the entrance hole suggests that it may have been hit by a .58 Minie ball. At face value very contradictory pictures :-) It's going to be interesting.
