I believe that Progress self insure
Also in many car insurance policies collision with a aircraft is excluded
Interesting to see what the outcome will be of this accident and who picks up the tab

Also heard the self insurance bit. Did not know about the car vs aircraft exclusion. That is an eye opener.mi'cmaq wrote: Mon Jul 15, 2024 4:09 pm I believe that Progress self insure

Think Progress has been on the market for a little while, so this loss could translate into a devaluation of the selling price.
This is Eina all around. Think ACSA may also use this incident to prohibit cars in the GA Area. A position they have been wanting to enforce for a while now in PE. This just gave them the ammo to implement it.
Don’t take things for granted… Tomorrow is not promised.

Re: Toyota vs Vulcanair
Any chance this incident was a deliberate act .. eg disgruntled student taking it out with a hire car on the aircraft ?Roger wrote: Mon Jul 15, 2024 5:53 pmAlso heard the self insurance bit. No, I think was more straight forward to just loosing control, after a late night.Bearcat wrote: Mon Jul 15, 2024 6:01 pm Any chance this incident was a deliberate act .. eg disgruntled student taking it out with a hire car on the aircraft ?

Re: Toyota vs Vulcanair
Thanks for the information Roger
I have been involved with two Partenavia P 68 aircraft ; one exported to the USA and I sold the other now operating as a survey platform
I have a P68 C dismantled airframe available - Was wondering if I could cannibalise the two and get one flying again
Any idea who the insurer is ? and if they are accepting liability for the damage their insured caused

Re: Toyota vs Vulcanair
@micmaq Probably best to give Progress a shout. They would most likely have all that detail.

Re: Toyota vs Vulcanair
ZS-VRA is still in the same position / condition at FAPE
The cars insurance has not (yet ?) paid up anything. I understand its not one of the larger car insurance companies ..so here is hoping...

Re: Toyota vs Vulcanair
The car hit so hard on the left hand side of the aircraft that there is structural / skin damage on the right hand side
