Mayday Magaliesburg GFA
Hi everyone, a mate of mine was flying in the Magaliesburg GFA when he heard ZS-FTP make a mayday call around 14:00 local. Anyone know what happened? Hope instructor and student are okay

One of the six Cherokees I flew at Westline Aviation in 2017-2018 during my flight training and hire & flew her various times afterwards. Was a nice aeroplane to fly. Attached photo of her with a friend I took for his first ever flight.

Re: Mayday Magaliesburg GFA
I learned to fly in FTB in the 90’s that’s a 140 if I recall, what a shame, was it written off ?ACE MAN wrote: Sun Oct 13, 2024 7:41 am FTP this week and FTB last week - we are running out of PA28s
Was buzzing around the Magalies GF around 4pm yesterday in a Cirrus, it was still extremely hot, DA at FALA was 7600 ft, not to say that has any bearing necessarily on this accident, just mentioning and nonetheless sorry to see.
Hope they recover soon.

Re: Mayday Magaliesburg GFA
Cherokee still has one of the most survivable cockpits .
Just an observation over time .
Take a look at this one - totally destroyed but the cockpit largely intact.

Re: Mayday Magaliesburg GFA
They’re lucky there was no fire. The paramedics are still working on one of the 2 on board with obvious head injuries …..

Re: Mayday Magaliesburg GFA
I've heard that one of the people died. RIP
Edit: Heard this coming through some of the paramedic channels who treated on this scene. Cant confirm this 100%. Apologies.

Re: Mayday Magaliesburg GFA
Hi, is this a recent update (because what I heard yesterday was that both were alive and being treated)?

Re: Mayday Magaliesburg GFA
Was it operated by a lanseria based flight school - or where?
