Of all the systems I would like to be asked to recover this would probably be the easiest. Why? Because it's a weather information system. The data ages out fast - like by tomorrow. So if I had accesss to a clean server - as I have previously, described the system would be back up and running within hours. I would simply leave all the old weather behind and start with the new stuff :-) Realtime process control systems are also fairly quick to recover - as long as you have the parameters. Not so accounting, CRM, pensions etc. It's not rocket science to harden a server against hackers. Basics. It does'nt cost more money. It's built into the operating system and should be built into the network environment. One caveat to this - they may have been running this on WinXP, then they are in doo doo. But it's been made perfectly clear for years that these machines should not be connected to the Internet. But they would never have been that dumb.

Working for me and it is super fast. FAIR radar image is 2 days behind, but other locations are working.

But a lot of functionality is still missing.

It's still somewhat under construction, but will get there soon enough.
FAIR is up to date now.

The original main site (http://www.weathersa.co.za/) is still very much down, so any other site or system depending on data from it will be struggling. It does seem that they are finally switching to a "secure site", https://www.weathersa.co.za/, but there is simply nothing to see yet. On the aviation weather site they haven't changed the address to the main site yet...

Had a quick look on the site and seems to be up and running again. Also checked Jeppesen FD Pro, its now again receiving METARS and TAFs for SA airports...

Kindly note that our network is down affecting access to the aviation website. We will be sending this compilation in the interim while the issue is being addressed by our ICT
