I've had my Seneca II since 1996. In 1997, I fitted 2 factory remanufactured engines (1800 TBO).
The aircraft flies at least every 2 weeks, but only about 50 hours a year. It is now 28 years later, and those engines still run like clockwork.
Only about 200 hours TBO now.

So, guess how I voted. How those engines were treated and maintained over such a long period is obviously crucial. For a buyer this is almost impossible to determine, unless it is a well-known aircraft, and its history is well known by a number of people that the buyer can consult.

Same here, with my V-tail Bonanza.
It had 400 hours left when I bought it and IIRC, the last overhaul was in the early 90's. That engine used almost no oil and the oil remained almost perfectly clean from 50hr to 50hr oil change. The engine was bone dry and ran like a clock.

The previous owner bought the Bonanza back from me and he's still flying it and that engine is still running like a new one.
