Hi all,
We're planning to fly to Kroonstad, FAKS next week. Is it still possible to land there? I understand that a while ago the runway was officially closed, but that it was still possible to land there at your own risk. Is that still possible? What is the condition of the runway?

Thank you - I received a private message - usable, but at own risk.

I flew over FKS last month. Spoke a cropsprayer who confirmed it was closed. Just make sure you take insurance into account before landing on a closed runway

Re: Kroonstad FAKS - state of runway
been landing there every 2 weeks for past year.
yes you will see the 'X' on runway. dont worry
runway is good
BUT, dont do run-up in Runup area. plenty of stones. you will chip your paint or prop.
(i hope my attachment works but if not, taxi from Apron/Fuel straight down to 07. you will see an area which was recently resurfaced. park at angle and do run-up, then taxi to 07 and depart or back track to 25.
DO NOT use the taxiway from apron to 25 / Grass RWY 12. also plenty loose stones and surface is very poor.
Pay Frikkie his R100 landing fees.
Maybe buy fuel. they are cheap and helps the GA in area.
