Thanks Gundaan - as I said, to have people ridiculing a phase in somebody's life that involved being shot, being blown up in land-mines and having friends die in front of one in the most horrible circumstances is hardly entertaining and I cannot sit back and accept it. If this entertains you, then I am happy for you.

Not at all Torrie - I was one of thousands that had the choice of going to the army or going to jail. I chose the army.

Darrell, Darrell ontspan die boude, I think everyone on the thread needs to take deep breath and realise that there are differing opinions and respect that. No-one in their right mind will question waht you experienced and your perception of the events, but then it also requires you to understand that some people require evidence before they believe something (me included) and the only evidence I have seen produced and what I experienced, points to a tragic accident ( I was in the air on an EW Patrol at the time unfortunately on the West Coast when we were routed to take up a listening watch to find out what was going on and so was privy to a number of radio intercepts at the time all which pointed to an accident). So everyone relax, stop reacting emotionally and lets digest the information provided and then make up your own mind as to what is your perception of the truth. :D :D :D

Edit: Can't believe I just moderated a moderator. :D

And you will never get that proof from me Snoopy. Simply because I cannot supply the proof. All I am saying is that I was directly involved in some strange goings on surrounding this issue. I have never claimed to be part of any devious planning on the part of the CCB, BOSS, NIS or anybody else. I am simply saying that I saw with my own eyes, some very strange things. Something that you are inferring is doubtful.

Darrel, I've taken a chill pill, actually coffee....walked down 3 flights of stairs and back.

If this event opened up emotional scars...that's sad, and unfortunate, if I had any part in awakening those scars - please accept my apologies, it was not my intention..however I played no part in some conspiracy leading to this accident - PTSD is something help is needed for and I'm not saying that in a flippant manner.

Like you, I'm after the truth, even if its different from what the accident reports say. Till now no facts point anything to the contrary.

The real victims of this aircraft accident was the crew and their pax and their surviving relatives....and not us.

Please tell us what the strange things where and why YOU perceived them as strange, because sometimes what looks strange to one person can be clarified by another who was actually involved in the investigation.

I have to believe the fact of the reports - till proven wrong. :smt039

What do you guys not understand about being deployed as a stopper group."

Let me clarify what a stopper group does. A stopper group gets deployed in such a manner (keeping terrain, enemy course of cation etc into account), to stop , limit , or cause heavy casualties to the enemy, who might retreat from the battle. Deploying a "stopper group" at a possible aircraft accident, seems a bit stupid.

Again a CF unit deployed in support of of SF group - Dream on. If yo were part of any briefing, you would now exactly who waht is involved, as well as the task.

Stay out of stuff hat you have heard.

DL I think you watch too much TV.

Thanks again Pongopilot - you obviously have not read my posts properly.

Just one single question. If this was a simple CFIT accident - how was it possible that the exact position of the crash was known within a very short time frame - I'd say within 20 - 30 minutes.

If this is the case then I'd say the wonderful people like Heksie are not doing their job properly. We all know how long it took to find the Islander wreckage, yet in a similar area, the Tupolev was found within minutes with government officials, senior Defence Force Officers et al present to sift through documents etc.

Pongo Pilot - why don't you give me a call so we can sort out my TV viewing times.... Pissing in the wind statements indeed...I guess I must have been on drugs at the time that I spent at least 16 hours footslogging along with 30 troops on that day....

And Snoopy, thanks for your last post, I really appreciate your sentiments

Apparently there was a follow-up on Special Assignment last night. Anyone waste time to watch?

So I have been reading! Strange how something from so far in the past can have us so worked up. And to what end I ask you. There are hundreds of conspiracy thearies around the world about all kinds of things. But what does it matter if the "apartheid" goverment killed Machel? It is over 20 years in the past. Its history. Will it bring anything positive to this devided nation? If they did bring down the plane the ANC will have one more stick to beat the whites with, becuase that seems to me the only reason they can't let go of the past. Just like old Bob up North they want to keep looking back, instead of looking forward and finding things to bring this nation together.

PS: Feel free to ignore my rantings

Yup, nothing new...in fact if what I read on the TV was the actual transcript of the CVR.....CFIT.

Someone got a correct CVR transcript in PDF format?

I find it unbelieveable that people are getting their K***kers in knots about basic facts... THAT ARE IN THE ORIGINAL REPORT.

Here is a fairly good resume: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mozambican ... r_disaster

... and a good summary: http://aviation-safety.net/database/rec ... 19861019-0

(Could not find the original report online...)
