MT-03 Owners

Unread post by Captain Gyro »

Thought I would be the first to kick start the new MT-03 forum on Avcom.

Here's a photo of my brand new MT-03 when I took delivery of her in May 2007. I was keeping her at Kittyhawk, but since having moved down to the Cape in October last year (2008), she is now at Stellenbosch.

I have really enjoyed this gyro tremendously, and have done some very beautiful trips.

I think they have made a mistake with it's design! I always said that I would be keen on a gyro when they make "good" closed cockpit ones. One where you can fly with the doors off in summer and on in winter. Now suddenly (for me anyway! ) there are a number on the market and some really good looking machines! :D

The Calidus as it is called looks sleek and sporty but it does not look like there are doors that can be removed? :? The Magni M24 on the other hand, the Xenon and the Rotortec all look fantastic!!! =P~ =P~

Are there agents in SA for these machines??

Would the experts advise that one flies an open cockpit machine first before moving on to one of these machines?? Prices??

Whirly.

Greetings

Your post is very informative, thank you for that. I am in a very similar situation to what you were in a few years ago before you bought your gyro - I fly for an airline and really enjoy flying trikes. About 4 weeks ago I made the mistake of going up for a flip in a gyro - what can I say, I haven't stopped thinking about it since and would appreciate it if you could please answer some questions for me.

1. How do you deal with the insurance costs, are they really as high as people say they are (30K)?
2. Does it effect your life insurance?
3. What's the best gyro to look at? I'm looking at a Magni M22, what's your opinion?
4. Are spares freely available in SA?

I see that you're at Stellenbosch, I'm hangared there as well.

Regards
Steve

Steve, sent you a PM. I'm a bit biased, and like the MT, for various reasons. All the gyro's available in SA are all quite good, and pretty much do the same thing.
