Re: Ask George
HI Hennie,
do you have the boost pump running? On a cool morning the egt,s will run slightly higher. 740 is ok. If the problem persists the fuel inlet port can be opend to a 3/32" diameter 2.38mm rather than the 2mm any larger the carb will flood.

Hi Wynand'
The standard wheels are 5" the larger wheels are 6". You cannot fit the spats to the larger wheels , the rims stay the same.

Hi Len
I believe DFP is with you for a rebuild after being flipped on her back!
How about a thread with pics about the rebuild?
That could be educational to all off us...

Done and I will test it next week Sunday on a X/C. Will let you know!Len alford wrote:there has been a s/b out on the 4xx and 160's which entails an extention to the bottom lip of the cowl , this produces more draw . A bit of experimenting with some ali plate and some self tapping screws. BTW have you canged from the original engine instruments?

Re: Ask George
Len, is there perhaps a way to determine the adequacy of the "rubber spacer set", those rubber (mine is red) doughnuts on the front wheel assembly? I was recently told by someone (who knows more about jabbies than I do) that the nose of my plane seems a bit low. It is quite possible that these doughnuts have been squashed into a smaller unit than what it's supposed to be. How can I check it? I could not find any specification in the manual.
thanks

Re: Ask George
hi henk,
yes the urethane spacer set does collapse over time (hard landing runway conditions time etc) If you pull down on the prop while chockng the front nose gear you shold see less than 10 mm of play. Colours are a S.A. thing and don't represent any specific designation. monitor closley otherwise you might be in for a prop. If you need more clarity ph 044-876 9991

Len, could you please publish for us the correct service part numbers for the Oil filter, Spark plugs and Air filter?
And confirm oil service intervals are every 50 hours?

Re: Ask George
Hello Len,
Quick one on checking Carb Heat before take off from dirt strips. I was told that it might be a bit detrimental to engine life. (Sucking dirt into engine)
Advice will be appreciated.
