Re: ZU CYB Project
Fitted exhaust manifolds and tapped extra hole for EGT probe for the no 1 . Now I have dual EGT using a skydat and 2 probes on the no 3 and no 1 exhaust outlets. Also have dual CHT using skydat.
Fitted new oil fittings and hoses for the oil cooler. Shims for end play will arrive tomorrow and then can finalize end play . Then I can assemble inlet manifold , carb and all the other accesories. should be ready to start early next week.
Also purchased a new oil breather.
sweet,sweet

Re: ZU CYB Project
UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am extremely happy to announce. THE ENGINE STARTED FOR THE 1ST TIME TODAY. It sounded great. Oil pressure was very good and she started very easily after cranking it for a while to build up oil pressure. I haven't even set the timing 100% yet or set the air fuel mixture 100% yet and she is running so sweet. Really good feeling knowing I put in so much effort to get this baby running. She is all brand new now. Tomorrow we will put a nice groot fan onto the engine so that w ecan run it longer to set the timing and mixture 100%. Then I must install into cubby and finalize everything. Looks like she will be ready by end March.
PS
I have uploaded a youtube video of it running.

Re: ZU CYB Project
Thanks guys for the nice words. I have uploaded another video of us setting the timing today. she is sounding and running very sweetly indeed. I put this groot fan infront to blow some cool air onto the heads whilst we were running the motor to set the timing.
Now I will be taking her and mounting the engine onto the cubby. Just waiting for my reduction drive and then can finalize.
cheers

Re: ZU CYB Project
update!!!
Due to the relocation of the oil cooler mounted under the sump instead of the cowl where the current scoop is, I have cut a section in the front cowl and will back it with a wire mesh grill from autosport to give it a nice finish. This will force air over the oil cooler then it will pass through it and escape out the back. I will use the current air scoop and funnel cool air to the air filter which is located at the top back of the firewall mounted on the special airbox/carbheat combo box.
The redrive arrived today so saturday will be a very busy day for me asembling all the bits and pieces. This aerie should be ready for test flight late march early april.
Over and out
