Re: ZU CYB Project
update!!!!
put in a 10 hour shift on the cubby yesterday. Really pushing to finish. Installed reduction drive and belt, fitted oil breather and piping, all cabling to engine completed (big job). rerouted wiring for radio, installed new radio bracket, installed aluminium tubing for wiring to make it neat. Taking a break today because the wife demands it , not because I choose too.
Tomorrow:
fit prop
finish all wiring to radio and panel
check valve clearances
change oil and filters
install fuel flow sender
install battery
and test run motor, all electronics and instruments

Re: ZU CYB Project
Update!!
Fitted prop, changed oil and filters. Had to modify the oil cooler bracket because the cowl would not fit properly, This took up alot of time and before I knew the WIFE was phoning to find out where the hell I was.
Then installed the radio and brought all the wriring up to the harness. Basically have approx 2 more full days of work and will be ready to start her . Have booked the guy to come and do the weight and balance and have booked the AP to come and inspect and sign off in 2 weeks time. Then off to RAASA for new ATF and bobs your auntie we will be ready to fly 1st week of April.

Re: ZU CYB Project
Wow Craig..she's really looking good. I am really chuffed for you that she's almost airborne again. I was grounded for 18 months once and it felt like an eternity so I feel your pain and now the excitement. I hope all goes according to plan.
I was not always this sarcastic.
It took me years of dealing with A-holes to get this good at it...

Re: ZU CYB Project
the pipes branching off the exhaust and then onto the intake manifold were designed to take care of icebuildup in the long manifolds. I am not sure if they do their job properly but from my perspective they simply help in supporting the intake manifold and carb assembly. The airbox with carb heat flap really works and also takes care of ice buildup in the carb.GERMAN wrote:Why double carb heat?

Re: ZU CYB Project
update!!!
Thanks to Norman from Springs who came to do the weight and balance. Turns out I have only added 5 kg and the C of G has'nt changed much. Also fitted all the fuel hoses, filters and optifuel sender.
fitted the throttle, carb heat and chocke cables. It is a bit of a bugger getting the cables to function correctly, took me some time . Also installed new dashboard with new vinyl (much nicer).
tomorrow I must finalize the wiring which I have been procrastenating about. Hopefully I will be able to start her up tomorrow.

Re: ZU CYB Project
update!
was going to start her today, but it was raining cats and dogs. so tomorrow, she is ready for a test run on the engine.
Everything is finished except, CHT sensors( need to get smaller ones, wire up the radio, fit the seats.
she is looking very nice I must say. I hope she performs aswell!!!!!!!!!
AP coming on sat to sign her off and then off to RAASA for the new ATF.and then some serious test flying, can't wait.

Nice work Craig.....
I know the many hours you have poured into her will be rewarded.
When you gonna get a spinner? that will finish it off nicely!
