ZU-KIS

Unread post by Arno »

She's ready for her test flight after three years on the ground...test pilot Bertus du Preez lined up to do the honours this week!
Will post pics of the event as it unfolds. It took Pierre and Mike 15 months to get her back to pristine condition. I'm sure she's going to fly like it too. :D :D :D

I flew on Friday afternoon for the first time in ZU-KIS after a 15 month refurb.
Must admit I got emotional for a second after turning crosswind  #-o
Great experience, the KIS handles like a charm, take-off, cruise and landing...all effortless :D =D> =D> =D>

Still quite a few snags to sort and some mods, so no flying for the next month or so, but it least we're there, it flew!

Would it be feasible to compare this with the RV-10? Perhaps the 9? If so would that be a discussion worth having?

No real comparison, two similar but different aeries #-o
The RV-10 has 260 hp with a 160-170 kt cruise
The KIS Cruiser has 180-200 hp with 140-150 kt cruise
The RV is bigger in and outside but can't take that much more payload than the KIS
The KIS is the "armgat" RV10 simply cos the RV is costing at least double and uses 50+ litres to the KIS 40+ litres on the cruise. Insurance also more etc.

The KIS is also a true 4-seater with full fuel and baggage at altitude. Very capable and lovely plane.
My opinion is that had the KIS team done with marketing, what the RV team had done, you would have seen many more KIS planes flying :?
