How much is A/C radio license (ICASA) for 2011?

ICASA is the regulator for the South African communications, broadcasting and postal services sector. At this stage, this section is not officially sanctioned by ICASA management and is being monitored on a voluntary basis.

So I pay R12 via EFT to:
Nedbank
Br Code 14624500
Account 1462002927
and put Radio Station Licence Number as reference? And keep this in the aerie with POH, previous year's licence, etc?

Surely if you pay your R48 they are obliged to issue a 1yr license under current tariff regulations :?:

And the increase is based on what exactly? The increase in the cost of zero service?

I still have not even received a licence for 2010 and I have to already pay for 2011

In the USA they charge $110 for a ten year Aircraft station licence, ie R77 per year in South African ront.

Did a small calc on the revenue generated by our 6000 ??? airworthy aircraft here @ R120 pa.. =R720000 .. that should just cover a single BEE position with Merc ML clumsy car allowance for the year

Considering that I have just paid R170 excl. VAT (R193.80 incl. VAT) to my security service provider to give to ICASA for one year's licencing of my alarm system's transmitter I think an aircraft station licence fee of R120 is still a bargain.

My alarm system transmits maybe 10 times a year with a false alarm - my aircraft transmits probably close to 2500 times a year (500 hrs average per year at an average of 5 radio calls per hour).

A massive rip-off for a few brief transmissions per annum

*phew*. ICASA has my postal address all wrong and hence I would never have known about any radio license renewal if I didn't pick it up here on AvCom. I am a 1st time owner and this is all new to me. Thanks Avcommers. =D>

A while back they were working on a formula to charge farmers for rain.We also pay tax on our prodution inputs. No wonder Efrica has almost no agriculture left apart from RSA wich are going in the same direction. But they know how to do R69 milj parties and purchase arms @ 3 times market value without operators and alot mineral rights to zuma,s 'famaly' to the tune of R9 billion. Banna republic.

invoices are meant to be numbered.

So how can it be attached to an on-line application form, if all it is; is a PDF of the same document, downloaded over and over again by everyone. :?

Is ICASA properly audited?

If they demand money for licences there must either be specific invoices linked to individual customers (one per license) or statements addressed specifically to individual customers and a form of receipt against payments received from each customer....right?

No matter how many times you download this form - both the "allocation" and the "licence number" stay exactly the same.

Its purely a blank copy of an account, addressed to "the applicant".

And AVCOM wants to have a tiff about spelling. ..read ICASA's English.

How about this.

I have been waiting since December 2009 for my radio license, went o ICASA offices, spent an hour and half there, and was told our aicraft had been deregistered.

They cant tell me why and no one knows what to do.

I paid R600 into their account in DEC2009.

I have phoned them at least 20 times.

I believe this kind of service you do not have to pay for, I am sure you can get the same service for free.

We should all obey the law to the letter and do the following.

Not fly because we do not have the required documements,

Not pay for the new license until the old one is issued

Send an invoice to ICASA for each trip and telephone call made to follow up on what they should be doing for a salary.

Charge them for loss of income and joy due to not flying.
TAKE OFF IS OPTIONAL ?

After reading this thread again I realised that I had better check up on what the status is regarding my renewal. Phew, my new radio licence has indeed arrived but expires 2011-03-31 :( What a pain in the butt!!!

The Admin costs Icasa more than this

Why O Why is this not included in CAA, RAASA, ATF renewals #-o

The charge is identical for home alarms or VHF-FM however those are all delegated to other organisations I'm sure aviation is the only one where Icasa sends out individual invoices.
