How much is A/C radio license (ICASA) for 2011?

ICASA is the regulator for the South African communications, broadcasting and postal services sector. At this stage, this section is not officially sanctioned by ICASA management and is being monitored on a voluntary basis.

It is great when one person makes a stand in an organisation. We have FAPE in SAWS and now Peter in ICASA.

I fully agree, there is nothing like a good personal contact to help resolve issues. Now all we need is a candidate from SARS

I sent Peter an email and have already received a response. My payment of 6 Jan was only processed on 1 Feb and my license is in the mail. Peter also suggested I print his email to carry in the aircraft while the Post Office gets me my mail.

It's now 2 weeks to go to the 1st April. I've not recd the licence for the 3mths but carry my proof of payment in the aircraft.

I haven't yet had an invoice for the next year. How can I ensure I'm OK and legal from 1st April?

I paid my R48 in December. I received my R12 license last week valid to end of March. I guess I am legal to end of 2011 :?:

You can pay but how much? In past I used to pay R48 every year without invoice and the license would arrive. This year it did not for some reason? The account reflects a credit.

That is the million dollar question!!! Maybe we should just "overpay" and keep the receipt. #-o

I would like to take up the 5yr option that was mooted elsewhere.

See in Government Gazette that new fee structure which should have commenced on 1 April has been postponed to 1 April 2012 - back to square one? R48 per year?

Good Morning to All,

Firstly, my humble apologies for my silence recently on the forum. As some of you may imagine, we have been rather busy with licence queries since the initial publication of the notice amending the ICASA licence year to run from 1st April to 31st March annually. This created a huge amount of additional work, especially in the Regional offices, dealing with requests for info, etc. I won't bore you with details, suffice to say that whomever thought up the process of amending the licence year at the same time as increasing the respective fees must have been smoking something really strong!! Fortunately in the end, sanity prevailed somewhat and the licence fees WILL NOT BE INCREASED this year and will remain at R48.00, due on 1st April and payable by 30th April. Joburg HQ commenced debiting the new 12-month's licence fees on Tuesday this week and the renewal notices will be posted over the next couple of weeks as they are printed. Note that we only post renewals once per week and not every day for reasons of economy and control.

It is recommended that you wait for the renewal notice to arrive before making any payments to ensure that all details are correct on your licence. If, however, you did not receive a renewal notice last year (or for the current 3-month extension period) please do not simply pay the R48.00 using a previous account, or your licence particulars such as the licence number and/or callsign, etc, make enquiries with us first. The reason you didn't receive any documentation may be due to a problem with your account which has resulted in the licence being suspended, which would prevent any renewal notice or subsequent licence document being issued. Obviously if there is such a problem, it needs to be rectified ASAP, so if you didn't receive a renewal for last year, or this 3 month period, please make enquiries at your local regional office or with our HQ in Joburg. All our regional office contact details, and those for HQ, are to be found on the right hand side of our Homepage at www"dot"icasa"dot"org"dot"za. If you prefer email comms, you're welcome to forward any requests for info, etc, to me at:- pleonard"at"icasa"dot"org"dot"za (Hope that fooled the spam bots!). Any enquiries of a general nature to do with licensing, etc, may also be directed there or to this forum, however, as I have stated previously, I cannot check this forum every day so any enquiries may take a while to be responded to. There are already a couple outstanding for some time which will be dealt with over the coming weekend.

Time constraints require me to close for now so I'll just repeat that licence fees for the next 12 months remain at R48.00. They will, however, be increased as of 1st April 2012, probably to R120.00 os previously mentioned.

Ciao for now and regards to all,

Peter
