Information Note: Samuel Kinkead, a South African pilot serving in the Royal Naval Air Service & Royal Air Force (flying a Sopwith Camel during World War 1), successfully shot down a German Albatros DV, this was his 22nd and 23rd confirmed air-to-air victories.

An Atlas C-4M Kudu (960) write-off in Schmidtsdrif area. This was the 1st C4M built.
1975
Whilst on an operational deployment, a 24 Squadron Buccaneer (418) crashed in the Grootfontein area after a mid-air collision with another Buccaneer (426). Buccaneer ‘426’ made a safe landing at Air Force Base Grootfontein (SWA/Namibia). The aircraft was part of a formation of four, which flew from Waterkloof as a show-off force. (A/I)

1982
1 Squadron and 3 Squadron conducted the following missions:

1 Squadron scored their 1st kill when Lt Talbolt shot down a Ju-87 (Western Desert).
A Hawker Hart I (393) was involved in an accident, fatally injuring both crew members. (A/I)
1 Squadron’s Captains Quirk and Burger were out strafing M/T and light tanks near Acroma. Burger’s Hurricane was hit by AA fire and he belly-landed a mile west of the town. Quirk circled overhead and saw his colleague set fire to the Hurricane. He also saw German troops approaching and decided to land nearby in an attempt to rescue Burger. Both men squeezed into the cockpit with Burger sitting on Quirk’s lap, the latter having discarded his parachute pack. The heavily-laden Hurricane shredded its tail wheel as it become airborne but Quirk made a creditable landing at Sidi Haneish, and was awarded an immediate DSO for this action.

A Supermarine Spitfire (MJ123 belonging to 7 Squadron crashed during an operational sortie, the pilot was captured and taken Prisoner

Information Note: Italian forces at Amba Algali agreed to surrender to allied forces (WWII East Africa Campaign).

Information Note (World War 1). Charles G. Ross, a South African pilot serving in the Royal Flying Corps and Royal Air Force, flying a SE5A, successfully shot-down a German Albatros D V, this was his 4th air-to-air victory.

1 Squadron’s A-Flight deployed to Idku, whilst B-Flight remained at El Gamil.
The following accidents were reported:
• A Curtiss P40D Kittyhawk (AK870) allocated to 2 Squadron was shot down by a Luftwaffe Bf-109. (C/L)
• A Tiger Moth (2187), crashed during a spin incurred during a low-level exercise. (A)
• A Curtiss Tomahawk (AN433) allocated to 5 Squadron crashed.
• Two Douglas Boston Mk III (Z-2176 and AL-673) allocated to 24 Squadron crashed during operations; four fatalities were reported.
1943
An Avro Anson (1130) was involved in a fatal ditching after it suffered fuel starvation.
1944
The following accidents were reported:
• A Martin Baltimore (unknown serial) allocated to 21 Squadron crashed, four fatalities were reported.
• A Lockheed Ventura (JT-819) belonging to 17 Squadron crashed during a Maritime Patrol mission, one fatality was reported. (A)

A De Havilland DH.82A Tiger Moth (585), was involved in a mid-air collision with a civilian aircraft (ZS-BLC) in the Vrede area. (A)
