D228100.....Your explanation for your scenario is acceptable and reasonable planning.....however, the question first asked was not.

Everything is taken on merit, hence why I was not prepared to give a final answer.

Taking off on a three hour jolly flight knowing you only have one hour left, in my personal opinion would be bad planning and not a clever thing to do.

Thanks Goffel, I would agree with that reasoning

I dunno, what is reasonable and what is legal is not always the same and what is merit? Sounds like gupta speak (or Goffel speak ) to me :?

If it is legal to lift off from a remote base to travel to an amo and run out of time and it is illegal to lift off from the AMO's base and return there with the same over run then it sounds like opinion rather than law.

If a perfectly serviceable plane well under your limits but reached the calendar date, cannot be ferried to maintenance due to xyz reason.
Can it be flown the next day after expire with permission, permit etc.

If any of you have the small print on such please do let me know.

Many thanks

Yes, you or your AMO apply for a special ferry permit at CAA. IIRC, the permit is valid for a limited time, within which the ferry flight must take place. There are also other terms and conditions and the permit only allows the ferry flight from and to the locations applied for.
Always good to keep your insurance up to date with the ferry flight.
