Aviation Hieroglyphics

Unread post by Roger »

Have always wondered what those weird looking diagrams were in an aerobatic pilot's cockpit - representing the maneuvers to be performed in their sequence.

Now know it is known as the Aresti Code.

Managed to find this one with some descriptions - albeit it is for models. Is it the same for full size?

Hi Skybound.

Yes, pretty much the same.

In full size, there is no defined direction of the rolls and snaps. What the higher classes may have is rolls followed by a roll in the opposite direction (or snaps for that matter).

The only roll direct ion that is important is the rolling circle i.e. inward rolls or outward rolls, or a combination of both.

Hope this helps
