I feel like a "Chop", really I do!! (not for sensitive viewe

Unread post by Brettp » Mon Jul 23, 2012 3:42 pm

Sunday dawned, a glorius day for flying...especially considering the crappy weather we have had over the last few weeks... I couldn't wait to get my stick up in the air for a "post repair" flight...... Man and what a flight it was.

After I taxied back to the pits, I casually lent forward to choke the motor....in fact I lent just a touch tooooo far forward. What was heard, is a sound I won't forget for a very long time!!!! A loud mix of "Brrr & Grrrrr". closely followed by a few choice words and and lots of blood!! Yip, i committed the fatal error of bring body parts and a rapidly rotating propeller to close to each other. A quick trip to the doctor saw 4 stitches and a "Thumb-dom" put into place, now I am good to go again.

Lesson learnt...... :D

Ouch!

May the mods should open a "Academy & Flight Safety" section under the model section for us to debate accidents like this.
Forget all that stuff about thrust and drag, lift and gravity, an airplane flies because of money.

Classic...funny how many have the same injury!!

You know, in light of this, I consider it a lesson , however there are a few sanctimonious individuals who have "Wise chirps" who will fall prey to a similar injury.... I just hope you escape with a few less stitches than what I did. :D

Hmm, Been there done that, and used the T-shirt to cover the cut, but here is the big surprise, my mate used half a bottle of cyano and the cut healed perfectly.............maybe because it was 3 days before I could seperate it from the other 3 fingers on my hand! :)
Slope soaring is such a clean hobby, especially if you are a Gynae! Which I am not [-X

Did the same thing setting up my quad copter, the instructions told me to set up the motor directions etc WITHOUT the props on but my eagerness to fly got the better of me. As I setup the travel adjust on my Tx the thing started up and in my panic I dropped the Tx on my toe and grabbed the quad frame to hold it down, only getting to the frame through the spinning prop was not a smart idea...

I feel your pain
